I
accompanied Anna in June of 2004 on a Rocky Hill School trip to
Europe. I was excited about traveling beyond the bounds of my
usual experience, but I had no idea how far out things would get
in the end.

This
is a picture of me not long before my capture. We visited the
Museum of Torture in Carcassonne, a walled
medieval
city in France near the Spanish border. Little did I know this
would be my last taste of freedom for a while.

This is the
candy bar whose purchase allowed me to be abducted .

After
enjoying lunch at Carcassonne, we headed off to Barcelona. It
was at a rest stop just outside Barcelona that Anna left me unattended
as she went to buy a snack. When she got back on the bus, I was
gone.

My enemies
were many and my allies were few. Andrew Fogarty was one of those
who sought to root out the culprits and keep them from doing further
harm. |
 |
On a bus tour
of Barcelona, I was teased relentlessly by my captors. They held
me up to the window, allowing me to glimpse the free world I was
forbidden to enjoy. But do you notice how they could not steal away
my smile? |
 |
As we walked
the streets of Barcelona, I sometimes came agonizingly close to
Anna. |

At last I was
returned to the company of my esteemed and slightly larger counterpart.
As Anna waited for her lunch, she received an unlikely surprise.
I must say...it was a bit humiliating being served up on a plate,
but I guess I was glad to be free again. |
